The term Sacristan comes from the Latin word, “sacer”, which means sacred. Sacristans are behind the scene
prayerful volunteers that bring to mind the words of Jesus when He said we should do good works
out of love only but not to gain accolades
(Matthew 6:1).
Sacristans are responsible for the cleaning of the altar linens,
keeping the main altar clean, and inserting new candles in the
holders.
The Sacristan ministry is a vibrant, worthwhile, grace-filled
volunteer opportunity which draws us closer to God and our
fellow parishioners. If you are considering participating in
this ministry in service to Our Lord and His Church
